The Delaware River Base Commission is considering proposed regulations to allow fracking in the Delaware River Basin, an area that provides drinking water for 15 million Americans.

Please click on the link to learn more and sign a petition that will be send to President Obama to let him know the dangers and tell his representatives who will vote against this regulation.

Tell Congress What You Want for Dinner! → secure3.convio.net

From the Union of Concerned Scientists: The mammoth Farm Bill—voted on every five years—determines what food farmers will grow and what practices they will employ. The next Farm Bill is already taking shape in Washington and big agribusiness is wasting no time in lobbying for outdated and polluting agricultural practices.

Don’t let your food choices be determined by agribusiness corporations—Congress needs to hear from you today!

Recent reports by the Union of Concerned Scientists demonstrate how we can transition to modern, science-based agricultural practices that safeguard our health and protect the foundations of our food supply—such as healthy soil and fresh water—while reducing global warming emissions. Tell Congress that the status quo may be working for agribusiness fat cats, but it is not in the interests of farmers, the environment, or your family’s health!

Please make your letter personal by adding in your own thoughts and concerns. Every letter makes a difference, but customized letters have the greatest effect!

Here is an excuse to explore other ways of getting around.

On Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 Active Trans will again partner with RTA, Pace, Metra, CTA and communities around the region for Chicagoland Car-free Day. The event is part of World Car-free Day, the day when people around the world pledge to go sans auto.

Everyone is invited to take the Chicagoland Car-Free Day Pledge, even if you were already planning to walk, bike or take public transit on Car-Free Day. Once you sign on, you’ll be eligible to win raffle prizes from Active Trans partners!
